Maybe it’s confirmation bias, but every time there’s someone at the register playing the lottery (whether scratch-offs or something else) they take at least twice as long as any other transaction. Tonight was no exception.
There was a woman at the counter, cashing in her lotto tickets and picking new scratch-offs. She was there when I walked in and 4 people later she was still there when I walked out.
I started to get angry but then I thought about it some more. Most of the people who hog the counter with their lottery lust are the lower-class poor (not to be confused with the middle-class poor). Considering their shitty, hopeless, desperate world, who am I to deny them a few minutes of potential glory?
