There was a small rat snake in the coop tonight — no more than 9 inches long. It was light brown with dark brown blotches outlined in black. I was looking at it when I heard the familiar sound of a tail rattling against the metal siding. I didn’t see anything inside the coop, so I poked my head out the door.
Holy crap that was a big snake! A larger version of the little snake inside the coop, it wasn’t the snake I untangled from the deer netting the other day. It may have been the same snake that was poking around the brooder the other night. I certainly hope so. Otherwise, there are 2 big-ass gray snakes… in addition to the 2 big-ass black snakes.
