It’s not what is said but what is left unsaid, to be assumed or inferred, that we need to watch out for.  That is what often leads us to support causes which we would not otherwise support.

I’ve been betrayed by my assumptions.  I thought the Rainbow Flag represented the diversity within the human race.

Today NPR featured an obituary for Gilbert Baker, the creator of the Rainbow Flag, and I learned that Baker created the flag to represent the diversity within the gay/lesbian community.

I despise identity politics.  It’s a tactic of the tyrant, divides people and creates conflict where none need exist.

Tribalism is an intrinsic part of human nature that can’t be avoided.  It is a magnetic force that pulls in people as if they were iron shavings. This makes it a convenient tool for those who want to control others.

There are only two true tribes that are of real importance — the tribe of the human race and the tribe of the individual.
