I ran across this article.  Further consideration is required but it explains a lot.

When our country was founded the voters were property owners and property owners were the militia.  The militia wasn’t a hypothetical ideal.  It was men who banded together for the common defense of their life, liberty and property.  America was originally a stratocracy.  The warriors, those with the guns and the most to lose if their rights weren’t respected, were responsible for voting for and serving in government.

We’ve degenerated.  First into popular democracy and now into anarcho-tyranny.  If we want to restore America and the principles upon which She was built –the individual’s right to  life, liberty, property — then we need to return to a stratocracy.

It’s unfortunate that communism/progessivism/postmodernism has infested our society to the extent it has.  The fatal mistake was presuming it’s advocates were acting in good faith.  What to do about the infestation?
