I’ve never seen the moon set this far to the south.  It’s setting almost directly southwest.  Usually, the moon and the planets follow a graceful arc across the sky from east to west.  Tonight they started out following the same course but around 8 pm started to dive suddenly.  It’s like something pulled them off their course and now they’re swooping down to the southwest horizon
