I ordered a couple of items off of Amazon and they came today but in 2 different deliveries.
The first delivery driver came just as I was taking Jasmine outside. She was barking at him as he walked up, but I told the driver that she wasn’t a threat and he was more or less ok with her. He may have been a bit fearful, but it was a rational fear. That’s not the metric for my comparison because Jasmine wasn’t outside with me when the second delivery arrived.
My metric is the over-all interaction. The first driver handed me the package and was over-all relaxed, even though there was a big dog barking at him. The second driver would not hand me the package. He claimed that he had to take a picture of the package on the property.
What struck me at the time was the different vibe I got off of each of them. I could tell by his accent that driver 1 was from India, or maybe Pakistan. Driver 2 didn’t have a noticeable accent but he appeared Arabian and had a thick beard.
They were both about the same shade of brown — although driver 1 was a bit darker than driver 2 — so it wasn’t that driver 2 was a colored person that “triggered me”. There was just something about driver 1 that felt more… American.
