How to build a chicken coop when you’re drunk

  • 13.0.8.13.1 – Catching Up

It’s been a rough year or so. There was the craziness of the coof and its fallout in 2020. 2021 didn’t start out much better what with the deep freeze and all. That freeze killed all of the fruit trees I planted except one fig and two grape vines. I’m amazed by the grape vines.…

  • Raccoons 23 Nov 2108

I caught the raccoons that were killing my chickens.  The night before last I put out a live trap in the coop.  Nothing came from it that night, but this morning I checked and the trap had been triggered. There are two raccoon kits in the trap.  They’re maybe 12 inches long, including their tails. …

Some animal rights activists want to bring an end to keeping livestock and pets. Have they not thought about the consequences or are they the same sort of psychopaths that justified the destruction of Ben Tre? I’m not having any luck finding the stories on Google, but I know I’ve read articles about those lunatics.

  • 13.0.3.12.13 – Deere John…

Right.  I’m about done with the local Ag Power dealership.  Unless they do right by me, I will not do any more business with them. They have awful customer service. Don’t waste your time leaving a message for the service/shop department. No one will call you back. It takes weeks for them to send a…

  • 13.0.3.12.0 Cats – The Nuclear Option

Right.  I’m done with this libtard environmental bullshit.  Don’t let your cats outside, they say.  Cats kill billions of “innocent creatures” every year, they say.  So then why are we not living in a barren wasteland populated only by starlings and sparrows? I’m looking at $1700 in repairs because rodents ate the wiring in my…

That damned bobcat…  I thought I would get home tonight before he showed up again. Another 4 chickens dead tonight.  Bob the rooster was one of them.  I hope he died fighting valiantly. I’m going to have to keep the birds cooped 24/7 until I can get the automatic door installed this coming weekend.

  • Bantam Chick Update

The bantam chick is dead.  A snake got into the coop.  It wasn’t Big Black rat snake; he’s too big to have gotten in.  I suspect it was the smallish snake I saw by the coop the other night. That makes it 2 for 2.  Both chicks have lived about a week then died.

  • Farm Life — Aug 12

The other day the guineas got out of their pen.  There were 6 that night.  The next morning there were 3. I thought it was because the door between the run and the yard was closed. Maybe that’s why they couldn’t find their way back into the coop?  So I started to leave it open.…

  • 13.0.1.12.11 – Feeding the birds

I wasn’t sure what to do with the raccoon carcass.  My first thought was to leave it hanging in the coop.  It would attract flies and the maggots would drop from the carcass, providing protein for the chickens.  But then I worried about raccoon roundworms infecting the chickens, which might infect the eggs. My second…
